Attorneys
Attorney blake johnson
Blake Johnson is a Rhode Island native, born and raised in Providence. She completed the 3+3 Program at Roger Williams University, earning her undergraduate degree in Legal Studies and Philosophy, cum laude, in 2019, and her Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2021. During law school, she concentrated on business and transactional law, participated in the Business Start-up Clinic, and served as a Student Ambassador, as well as Vice President of the LGBTQ+ Alliance.
Blake is licensed to practice law in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York. Her legal practice centers on small business advising, cannabis policy, and transactional work in the arts and entertainment industries—an area she is especially passionate about. She is also an attorney with the Rhode Island Small Business Development Center through the University of Rhode Island’s business development program, providing strategic legal guidance to entrepreneurs and growing businesses.
In addition to her legal work, Blake is a dedicated educator and mentor. She teaches legal considerations courses for emerging business owners through local incubators and accelerator programs such as DesignxRI and EforAll. She also mentors through the Women’s Young Equity Coalition under the Rhode Island Justice Coalition (RIJC).
Blake serves on several boards and committees committed to equity and the arts. She was appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate to the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA), serves as Vice President of the Cannabis Policy Coalition, and is a member of the Development Committee for the Women’s Fund of Rhode Island. She is also a member of the Rhode Island Women’s Bar Association.
Attorney megan sheehan
Attorney Megan E. Sheehan graduated from Macalester College in 2005 and Vermont Law School in 2013. While at Vermont Law School, Megan participated in the South Royalton Legal Clinic, was an active member of the National Lawyers Guild VT Chapter, and volunteered on a statewide workers’ rights hotline.
Prior to joining Sheehan & Associates, Megan worked with the Vermont Workers’ Center as the Director of Operations. She lives in the East Bay of Rhode Island with her husband, son, two dogs, and a cat.
Megan focuses on small business legal services and estate planning. She is licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and works primarily from our Barrington office.
Outside of her legal career, Blake is the founder and co-owner of Black Dragonfly Events LLC, a full-service event planning and design company specializing in milestone celebrations of fewer than 100 guests. Her company is known for creating intimate events that feel larger than life through curated details and elevated experiences.
In her free time, Blake enjoys reading, baking, amateur photography, cosplay, and traveling. She shares her home with her beloved turtle and is deeply connected to her family and community.
ATTORNEY MAURA SHEEHAN
Attorney Maura L. Sheehan graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1985. Before entering Northeastern University School of Law in 1989, Attorney Sheehan worked as an analyst for the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen. During law school, while an active duty military spouse and mother, Attorney Sheehan held Northeastern Co-op positions with Judge Patti Saris, Thornton & Early, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and Conservation Law Foundation.
Upon graduating from law school, Maura spent several years as an associate attorney at Thornton & Early and Stephen J. Kiely and Associates of Boston, where she represented over 100 women in the Silicone Breast Implant Multi-District Litigation.
In 1996, Attorney Maura L. Sheehan founded her law practice in Boston and Lexington, Massachusetts, focusing on real estate, estate planning, probate, small business, and sports law. Since 2000, her sports law practice has included sponsorship, broadcast, and merchandising agreements, athlete and on-air talent contracts, litigation, and public relations management. Notably, she negotiated the 2010, 2012, and 2014 Frozen Fenway contracts and television rights for Hockey East. Her clients have included Hockey East, Atlantic Hockey, College Hockey, Inc., and the College Hockey Coaches Association, and she served as General Counsel to Massachusetts Hockey from 2019–2024.
Attorney Sheehan also has extensive trial experience in catastrophic medical malpractice, auto injury, and major personal injury cases, including representing victims of the “Big Dig.” She served on the Board of Governors for the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers (MATA) for over a decade and founded “Suburban Lunches,” a continuing legal education resource for suburban attorneys.
Her pro bono and civic work includes representing a 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund claimant, veteran advocacy, serving on the Lexington Zoning Board of Appeals, coaching mock trial teams, and lecturing for professional bar associations. She currently serves on the boards of Newport Children’s Theatre and the Kate Grana Music and Arts Association.
Although the hockey skates are hung up, Attorney Sheehan enjoys Rhode Island ocean swimming and family life with her husband, grown children, grandson, and dogs. She is licensed to practice in Massachusetts.

Samantha l. Bailey, law clerk
Samantha Bailey, J.D., is the Senior Law Clerk at Sheehan & Associates Law, where she focuses on litigation. A proud member of Roger Williams University School of Law’s Class of 2021, Samantha has been with the firm since 2019.
Passionate about researching and writing on complex legal issues, Samantha plays an integral role on the litigation team. Her work includes conducting in-depth legal research, drafting motions, managing discovery, and contributing to the development of legal strategy.
Originally from Somerset, Massachusetts, Samantha earned her B.A. in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She now lives—and works—in Western Massachusetts with her husband and two children. In her rare free time, she enjoys being outdoors with her family, reading (audiobooks, these days), and the occasional video game.

Mary ann veneziano, paralegal
Mary Ann Veneziano graduated from Bates College in 1987 with a liberal arts degree in Spanish Literature and began a diverse career that has spanned marketing, non-profit management, event coordination, and, in recent years, legal support. She spent 13 years with Outward Bound in Boston Harbor, serving as Vice President of Marketing for their Hospitality and Events division.
For the next 13 years, Mary Ann dedicated herself full-time to raising her two children, Maddie and Ryan, while remaining actively involved in her community. She served as a Catechist at St. Theresa Church in North Reading, coordinated enrichment programs and served as President of the E. E. Little School Parent Teacher Organization, and volunteered with North Reading Christian Community Services.
Currently, as a paralegal at Sheehan & Associates Law, Mary Ann specializes on probate law and estate planning. She brings to her work the same dedication, compassion, and organizational skills that have defined her career and volunteer efforts.

Julia soares, director of operations
Julia Soares was born and raised in Barrington. She attended Gettysburg College, playing on the Division III field hockey team and majoring in Political Science with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
She began her career with Sheehan & Associates Law in 2020 as a paralegal, and has since transitioned into the administrative role of Director of Operations where she oversees all of the administrative staff. She is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of firm wide processes, ensuring seamless execution of day to day functions. Julia has been with the firm for almost five years.
She works remotely from Los Angeles where she spends her free time coaching field hockey at a local high school as well as going to the beach, hiking, traveling, and also volunteering.

Anna was born and raised in Northern Illinois and relocated to Cranston, Rhode Island in August 2023. She is the mother of two sons—Gabriel, 14, and Donovin, 11,—who both play soccer for their club teams as well as their school. Anna also has two Great Danes, Cupid and Comet, who enjoy car rides and walks. In her free time, she loves cooking and baking.
